Gallery Mahoroba opened its doors on August 23, 2025, in Tsukisamu, Toyohira-ku, Sapporo, as a new platform for contemporary artists with ties to Hokkaido. Nestled along the promenade leading to Tsukisamu Park, the gallery aspires to be an approachable and beloved cultural space for locals to drop in and enjoy art as a natural part of their everyday lives.

As a curatorial gallery, Mahoroba seeks to reframe the perception of contemporary art—from something distant and demanding to something that lives and breathes alongside us today. Through thoughtfully conceived exhibits, the gallery aims to deliver the varied and fascinating processes and expressions that artists explore through their art.

A new art studio has been established adjacent to the gallery. By hosting open studio events and fostering direct dialogue between artists and visitors, Mahoroba hopes to cultivate a deeper appreciation for the creative process and the simple joy of engaging with art.
